Could turning your heat on cause a fire?

The summer is over and the weather is getting colder so now is the time of year that people start turning on their heat. Coming in from the bitter outdoor cold to a nice warm house is just what you need, but could turning on your heat cause a house fire?

If your home is cluttered you could be blocking your heaters and as the heat goes on anything that is blocking them could potentially start a fire. Once a fire starts it will grab hold of anything nearby and before you know it your whole house could be up in flames. What can you do to prevent this? I’m glad you asked! The first step in preventing a house fire due to blocked heaters is to clear up the area in front of your heaters. Not sure you can do this on your own? Maybe it’s time to call a professional home organizer who specializes in hoarding to come in and help.

For the last 5 years I have been able to help numerous clients declutter their homes during winter time. I work with my clients to systematically clear out areas that could potentially be a fire hazard so that they can rest easy knowing their homes are safe from fires that could start from cluttered heaters. If you think your home could potentially be a fire hazard please reach out for an appointment and together we can make your home safe and comfortable.
